About the House of York Website

House of York - vertical

This is the website of the House of York apartment development based on a grade II listed Victorian industrial building. The apartments were first occupied in October 2007. The website is a community enterprise for the House of York residents and for the general public who may be interested in the place.

The website was built by Jim Shead, one of the first occupants of the redeveloped House of York, and is under his ownership, but is open for the use of all residents who may place their own web pages, blogs, links to other websites, events and other information freely on the web site and can take part in discussion groups that are exclusively for House of York residents.

If you are a resident and would like to use these pages you will need to have an authorisation code. This code is individual to each apartment and may have already been given to you in a printed communication about the website. If you do NOT have an authorisation code please email Jim Shead via the Contacts Page.

Having acquired an authorisation code click on the blue blue button to display the following screen.

login screen

This is the normal login screen that used to get access to the residents pages but as you have not yet set up an email address and password you will need to register first, which you can do by clicking on the Register button to get to the following screen.

registration screen

Note that in the example two people have opted to use just one user identity but it is also possible for each resident of a property to have a separate user identity and this is recommended if they want to be separately identified in contributions to the discussion forumand/or want to use separate email addresses.

Please note that your email address will not be displayed on the website unless you opt to have it displayed. Instead there will be an email option on the Contacts Page that will display an contact form so that messages can be sent to your email address without revealing your email address on any web page. This prevents robot programs, or other people, from obtaining your email address to put onto spam listings. However, when you reply to such messages your email program will normally reveal your email address in the reply to field.

thanks for registering

Once your registration has been accepted you can use your nominated email address and password to log in to the residents area. More information on using the facilities of the website can be found on the Residents Only Home Page that appears immediately following log in.
