Thursday 1th June 1995

From to River Thame Junction arriving at 10:20 am. The time taken was 1 hour 20 minutes. 4.37 miles and 1 locks, averaging 4.03 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 249 hours 12 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 418 locks, averaging 2.08 lock/miles per hour.

Walked into the town and visited the abbey church. Came back to the boat for lunch.

From River Thame Junction to Abingdon Bridge arriving at 5:00 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 25 minutes. 8.62 miles and 3 locks, averaging 3.4 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 252 hours 37 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 421 locks, averaging 2.06 lock/miles per hour.

Went through Culham Lock just after "Dawn" and "Dusk" and moored opposite them just above the bridge. Could not get any deisel at Red Boats so filled up at Abington Boats (by the bridge), water (50p) and 123.6 litres of desiel at 28p per litre (34.61). A cloudy day with sunny periods.

Friday 2th June 1995

From Abingdon Bridge to Osney Bridge arriving at 12:20 am. The time taken was 3 hours 0 minutes. 9.37 miles and 4 locks, averaging 4.46 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 255 hours 37 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 425 locks, averaging 2.05 lock/miles per hour.

Stopped at the visitor's moorings just below the bridge and had lunch. The hotel boats that we saw in Bristol Docks,"Snipe" and Tarus", were moored just behind us and later "Dawn" and "Dusk" moored behind them. Went rround Oxford with mum and Dad - Carfax Tower, Sheldon Theatre, Bodlian Libary, Rdcliffe Camera, All Soul's and New College. A mostly sunny day with some cloud.

Saturday 3th June 1995

From Osney Bridge to Eynsham Lock arriving at 4:05 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 15 minutes. 6 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.56 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 257 hours 52 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 427 locks, averaging 2.04 lock/miles per hour.

This morning we saw "Random Still" pass us, they were moored near us for the night. Saw Mum and Dad off on the 9.45 from Oxford then went shopping, first to the Coop then on the next trip to Sainsbury's in the Westgate Centre. After lunch we set off up the River. A day of cloud and rain.

Sunday 4th June 1995

From Eynsham Lock to Newbridge arriving at 12:25 am. The time taken was 2 hours 40 minutes. 7.5 miles and 3 locks, averaging 3.94 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 260 hours 32 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 430 locks, averaging 2.03 lock/miles per hour.

The man from the cruiser moored behind us "Elysium Echo" spoke to me, heis out for 10 days and is returning to Lechlade. Filled wth water at Oxford Cruisers (50p) then continued on to just below the bridge. Went to the Rose Revieved for a drink before lunch, it was very busy with people drinking and having Sunday lunch. Had lunch on the boat. A cloudy day with a cool wind.

Monday 5th June 1995

From Newbridge to Radcot Lock arriving at 2:10 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 25 minutes. 9.5 miles and 2 locks, averaging 2.6 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 264 hours 57 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 432 locks, averaging 2.01 lock/miles per hour.

Took a winding course through isolated countryside, meeting several cruisers coming the other way. Filled with water at Shifford Lock. Th keeper was at lunch at Radcot Lock so we worked it ourselvesand moored for lunch etc. above the lock. A sunny day with some cloud.

Tuesday 6th June 1995

From Radcot Lock to Ha'penny Bridge, Lechlade arriving at 12:10 am. The time taken was 3 hours 5 minutes. 6.87 miles and 4 locks, averaging 3.53 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 268 hours 2 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 436 locks, averaging 2 lock/miles per hour.

Another winding trip up the river, got a pump-out at St John's Lock (1 inthe slot to operate the pump, I used 2). Moored for lunch followed y shopping and a walk to the church then back to the lock. A cloudy day with some sunny periods.

Wednesday 7th June 1995

From Ha'penny Bridge, Lechlade to Radcot Bridge arriving at 12:40 am. The time taken was 3 hours 30 minutes. 6.25 miles and 3 locks, averaging 2.64 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 271 hours 32 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 439 locks, averaging 1.99 lock/miles per hour.

Went up to the start of the navigation at the Round House then turned and came back down. Filled with water at Grafton Lock and went through the lock with "Water Maiden", one of the first South Shore share boats. Stopped for lunch just below the bridge.

From Radcot Bridge to Newbridge arriving at 5:10 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 30 minutes. 10.12 miles and 3 locks, averaging 3.75 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 275 hours 2 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 442 locks, averaging 1.97 lock/miles per hour.

Miss judged one of the turns and ended up crashing into the willows but not badly, I blame the cross wind. Saw a Pouchard near the place I saw one on the way up. Saw my first blue damsel fly of the year. Moored below the bridge. The day started withrain at breakfast time and we started off with heavy cloud but dry gradually improving to become a very sunny afternoon.

Thursday 8th June 1995

From Newbridge to Eynsham Lock arriving at 11:50 am. The time taken was 2 hours 15 minutes. 7.5 miles and 3 locks, averaging 4.67 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 277 hours 17 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 445 locks, averaging 1.97 lock/miles per hour.

The filter on the water pump broke off this morning so I had to fit a new filter and bail out some water before we set off. Went through the locks with "Kings Guard" who we have seen a lot over the past few days. Could not moor on the visitors mooring above the lock so turned round and moored by the meadow above the bridge. Did some painting and one or two other jobs, including removing a plastic bag from the prop. A sunny day with periods of cloud, cool in the wind.

Friday 9th June 1995

From Eynsham Lock to Kidlington Green Lock No 43 arriving at 1:55 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 40 minutes. 10.25 miles and 5 locks, averaging 5.72 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 279 hours 57 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 450 locks, averaging 1.96 lock/miles per hour.

Stopped for water below Eynsham lock then went on through Duke's Cut on to the Oxford Canal. On the way down the Tames I saw a Curlew. Moored for lunch just above the lock. "Water Maiden" passed us after lunch.

From Kidlington Green Lock No 43 to Thrupp Bend arriving at 4:25 pm. The time taken was 1 hour 5 minutes. 2.12 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.8 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 281 hours 2 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 452 locks, averaging 1.96 lock/miles per hour.

Moored outside the "Boat Inn" at Thrupp, taking the last of the visitor's moorings. A mixed day of cloud and some long sunny periods.

Saturday 10th June 1995

From Thrupp Bend to Dashwood's Lock No 37 arriving at 6:20 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 45 minutes. 6.25 miles and 4 locks, averaging 2.16 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 285 hours 47 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 456 locks, averaging 1.95 lock/miles per hour.

We walked to Shipton on Cherwell and I went on to Hampton Gay (Beryl was too scared of the horses to cross the field). After lunch we started cruising stopping at the BW Thrupp depot for water. Went up the Locks behind "Shepherd's Hey" from Honey Street (K&A). A cloudy bright day.

Sunday 11th June 1995

From Dashwood's Lock No 37 to Heyford Wharf Bridge No 206 arriving at 10:15 am. The time taken was 30 minutes. 1.5 miles and 1 locks, averaging 5 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 286 hours 17 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 457 locks, averaging 1.95 lock/miles per hour.

Moored after the bridge and went for a walk round the village.

From Heyford Wharf Bridge No 206 to Allen's Lock No 36 arriving at 11:25 am. The time taken was 30 minutes. 1.25 miles and 0 locks, averaging 2.5 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 286 hours 47 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 457 locks, averaging 1.94 lock/miles per hour.

Moored below the lock and went for a walk round Upper Heyford. We found only one shop in the High Street, "The Early Keyboard Agency". Came back to the boat for lunch etc., after which we decided to stay the night. A cloudy day with some rain in the afternoon.

Monday 12th June 1995

From Allen's Lock No 36 to Aynho Bridge No 190 arriving at 11:50 am. The time taken was 2 hours 40 minutes. 4.75 miles and 3 locks, averaging 2.91 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 289 hours 27 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 460 locks, averaging 1.93 lock/miles per hour.

Moored at Aynho Wharf for deisel (83.3 litres for 15) and two tins of paint (20) also got some new rubber for the weed hatch, disposed of the used engine oil and Simon fixed our bath and basin waste pipe problem, all without charge. Had lunch at the Great Western.

From Aynho Bridge No 190 to King's Sutton Lock No 31 arriving at 4:20 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 35 minutes. 3.25 miles and 2 locks, averaging 2.03 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 292 hours 2 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 462 locks, averaging 1.92 lock/miles per hour.

Had to wait for locks, several boats at Aynho Weir Lock, we went up behind "Calley" from Coventry and were followed by "Shezours" from York. Moored just above the lock. A cloudy day with a cold wind.

Tuesday 13th June 1995

From King's Sutton Lock No 31 to Banbury Lock No 29 arriving at 10:50 am. The time taken was 1 hour 30 minutes. 3.62 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.75 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 293 hours 32 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 464 locks, averaging 1.92 lock/miles per hour.

Moored below the lock and went shopping and picked up our mail. Had lunch.

From Banbury Lock No 29 to Cropredy Lock No 25 arriving at 4:50 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 30 minutes. 4.5 miles and 4 locks, averaging 3.4 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 296 hours 2 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 468 locks, averaging 1.92 lock/miles per hour.

After lunch went through Banbury Lock, watched by two policemen, and filled with water. Moored below Cropredy Lock. Another cloudy cold day.

Wednesday 14th June 1995

From Cropredy Lock No 25 to Fenny Compton Wharf arriving at 1:40 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 5 minutes. 6.25 miles and 9 locks, averaging 3.73 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 300 hours 7 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 477 locks, averaging 1.92 lock/miles per hour.

Filled with water just before Cropredy Lock and followed "Kate Elizabeth", from Kate Boats up the locks from Broadmoor to Claydon Middle, where they stopped. The crew was a party of four who we had seen in the Red Lion the previous evening. Moored just after the wharf for lunch.

From Fenny Compton Wharf to Napton Top Lock No 16 arriving at 5:30 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 35 minutes. 7.5 miles and 0 locks, averaging 2.9 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 302 hours 42 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 477 locks, averaging 1.91 lock/miles per hour.

Moored between bridge 122 and the lock, and were passed by "Kate Elizabeth", they passed us at lunch time and we passed them just after. A cool and cloudy day with a few sunny intervals.

Thursday 15th June 1995

From Napton Top Lock No 16 to Napton Junction arriving at 1:30 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 0 minutes. 4 miles and 9 locks, averaging 3.25 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 306 hours 42 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 486 locks, averaging 1.91 lock/miles per hour.

Got out the bike and Beryl lockwheeled the Napton flight. Spoke to Ken Froud who was cutting the grass near his mooring. Filled with water at the bottom lock and had a pump out (10) at Napton Narrowboats. Stopped for lunch ust aftter the junction.

From Napton Junction to Cuttle Bridge No 25, Long Itchington arriving at 5:45 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 15 minutes. 4.25 miles and 13 locks, averaging 5.31 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 309 hours 57 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 499 locks, averaging 1.93 lock/miles per hour.

Met quite a lot of boats coming up through the locks and passed the hotel boats "Ashby" and "Caldon" at Stckton Bridge and they followed us down the two Itchington locks. Moored just after the bridge. Th day started cloudy and we had some light rain but the afternoon brightened and the day ended warm and sunny.

Friday 16th June 1995

From Cuttle Bridge No 25, Long Itchington to Fosse Bottom Lock No 22 arriving at 1:00 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 5 minutes. 3.87 miles and 8 locks, averaging 3.85 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 313 hours 2 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 507 locks, averaging 1.94 lock/miles per hour.

Filled up with water just after Fosse Road bridge, No 32. Stopped for lunch just below the lock.

From Fosse Bottom Lock No 22 to Clemens Street Bridge No 40 arriving at 3:00 pm. The time taken was 50 minutes. 2.5 miles and 2 locks, averaging 5.4 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 313 hours 52 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 509 locks, averaging 1.94 lock/miles per hour.

Stopped for shopping in the town (Kwik Save) not very good but close to the mooring. We afterwards found that there is a Sainsbury's near the canal just west of the town.

From Clemens Street Bridge No 40 to Coventry Road Bridge No 49 arriving at 5:55 pm. The time taken was 45 minutes. 2.25 miles and 0 locks, averaging 3 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 314 hours 37 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 509 locks, averaging 1.94 lock/miles per hour.

Moved on after shopping to get out of the town and moored on the visitor's moorings opposite Kate Boats. A warmer and sunnier day with some cloud early and late in the day.

Saturday 17th June 1995

From Coventry Road Bridge No 49 to Budbrooke Junction arriving at 4:00 pm. The time taken was 55 minutes. 1.25 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.55 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 315 hours 32 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 511 locks, averaging 1.94 lock/miles per hour.

Spent the morning in Warwick visiting the castle (8.25 each) and had lunch in the "Tilted Wig" pub. Moved on to be reaady for the Hatton flight and walked up most of the locks in the evening. A cloudy morning with some rain giving way to brighter weather in the afternoon, ending the day with warm sunshine.

Sunday 18th June 1995

From Budbrooke Junction to Hatton Station Bridge No 56 arriving at 2:05 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 50 minutes. 3.25 miles and 21 locks, averaging 5.02 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 320 hours 22 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 532 locks, averaging 1.97 lock/miles per hour.

Went up the Hatton flight with "Pusser's Lady" and followed by the hotel boats "Ashby" and "Caldon". At the top had to wait while "Pusser's Lady" filled up with water (and they used our 240v supply for their ironing) beforewe could fill up. It was a very slow tap so we had lunch while we were waiting. We moved on to between bridges 55 and 56 to moor etc. (David Dent passed us while we were mooring). Went to the Durham Ox in tthe evening. A warm sunny day.

Monday 19th June 1995

From Hatton Station Bridge No 56 to Lowsonford Lock No 31 arriving at 1:00 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 45 minutes. 6.25 miles and 10 locks, averaging 4.33 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 324 hours 7 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 542 locks, averaging 1.98 lock/miles per hour.

Waitted for a boat coming the other way before entering Shrewley tunnel. Moored for lunch just abbove the lock, oppositethe Fleur-de-Lys where we had a ploughman's for lunch. After lunch Beryl cut my hair. A cloudy bright day with prolonged sunny periods.

Tuesday 20th June 1995

From Lowsonford Lock No 31 to Wootton Wawen Aqueduct arriving at 1:10 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 25 minutes. 4 miles and 7 locks, averaging 3.22 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 327 hours 32 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 549 locks, averaging 1.98 lock/miles per hour.

Stopped for water after Lowsonford Lock No. 31. Had to queue for the next lock as two BW boats and a hire boat were going down. Next the bike got a puncture. Moored for lunch between the bottom lock and the aqueduct.

From Wootton Wawen Aqueduct to Wilmcote Bridge No 59 arriving at 4:05 pm. The time taken was 1 hour 55 minutes. 3.37 miles and 1 locks, averaging 2.28 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 329 hours 27 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 550 locks, averaging 1.97 lock/miles per hour.

At Bearley Lock we met "Taurus" and "Snipe" coming up from Stratford. Moored on the visitor moorngs near the bridge and walked into the village and did some shopping at the Post Office Stores. A mostly sunny day, warm but with some cloudy periods and one of rain.

Wednesday 21st June 1995

From Wilmcote Bridge No 59 to Stratford Bridge arriving at 2:00 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 30 minutes. 3.62 miles and 17 locks, averaging 4.58 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 333 hours 57 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 567 locks, averaging 2 lock/miles per hour.

A morning of many locks and a late lunch due to lack of moorings just before Stratford and a full basin in the town. Went through the lock on to the river to moor, then I went up to the marina to get a combined 15 day licence for the upper and lower Avon (40). After lunch did some shopping, booked for The Taming of the Shrew (2 x 25) tomorrow, collected our post, saw Shakespeare's tomb, had a drink in the Dirty Duck and had dinner at a self service cafe. Friday 23rd June 1995

From Stratford Bridge to Luddington Lock arriving at 12:10 am. The time taken was 1 hour 15 minutes. 3.25 miles and 3 locks, averaging 5 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 335 hours 12 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 570 locks, averaging 2 lock/miles per hour.

After taking some pictures and posting off the film I finished yesterday we set off down river, sharing the first two locks with a small cruiser contining three people and two Old English Sheepdogs. We moored just before the lock for water, lunch, etc.

From Luddington Lock to E & H Billington Lock arriving at 4:50 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 15 minutes. 5.62 miles and 3 locks, averaging 3.83 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 337 hours 27 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 573 locks, averaging 1.99 lock/miles per hour.

A quiet journey down the peaceful reaches of the Avon. Many anglers and waterlilies with buttercup yellow flowers. Moored just above the lock on the excellent moorings provded by the UANT. A hot sunny day.

Saturday 24th June 1995

From E & H Billington Lock to George Billington Lock arriving at 11:50 am. The time taken was 2 hours 0 minutes. 5.37 miles and 3 locks, averaging 4.19 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 339 hours 27 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 576 locks, averaging 1.99 lock/miles per hour.

Stopped for water and to dump our rubbish.

From George Billington Lock to Evesham arriving at 1:15 pm. The time taken was 1 hour 5 minutes. 4 miles and 0 locks, averaging 3.69 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 340 hours 32 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 576 locks, averaging 1.99 lock/miles per hour.

Moored for lunch and shopping in the town. Went through the lock on to the Lower Avon, I helped the lock keeper work through several boats bbefore us.

From Evesham to Fladbury Lock arriving at 6:00 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 10 minutes. 4.75 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.12 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 342 hours 42 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 578 locks, averaging 1.98 lock/miles per hour.

Moored just above the lock, on the weir side of the lock jetty, as there are very few moorings below Evesham and those were all occupied. A cloudy day, brighter in the afternoon but no sun. The next morning a woman was swiming by our boat above the weir.

Sunday 25th June 1995

From Fladbury Lock to Pershore Lock arriving at 11:50 am. The time taken was 1 hour 50 minutes. 5.12 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.88 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 344 hours 32 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 580 locks, averaging 1.97 lock/miles per hour.

Stopped by the recreation ground, squeezing into the last space and using the pollards as bollards, for lunch.

From Pershore Lock to Eckington Bridge arriving at 3:50 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 20 minutes. 7 miles and 1 locks, averaging 3.43 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 346 hours 52 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 581 locks, averaging 1.96 lock/miles per hour.

Got caught on something near the bottom of Nafford Lock which tipped the boat to one side. Most of the locks on the Lower Avon have volunteer crews manning them at weekends. Found a suitable sized mooring space below Eckington Bridge where we met some waterway enthusiasts from Torksey. A cloudy morning gave way to a sunny afternoon.

Monday 26th June 1995

From Eckington Bridge to Tewkesbury Lock arriving at 1:05 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 45 minutes. 7.5 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.45 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 349 hours 37 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 583 locks, averaging 1.95 lock/miles per hour.

At about 9am "Green Dophin" who had breasted up with us at our moorings at Eckington Bridge went back to Tewkesbury, we followed at 10.20. Stopped a little way before Strensham Lock for water and at Tewkesbury Marina for gas (10.60) and a pumpout (8). Moored just before the lock for lunch then went round the town and Abbey aand did some shopping in Somerfield's. Were charged 2.50 for overnight mooring. Another day where a cloudy morning was followed by a hot and sunny afternoon.

From Tewkesbury Lock to Llanthony Road Bridge arriving at 1:40 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 40 minutes. 13.62 miles and 1 locks, averaging 3.99 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 353 hours 17 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 584 locks, averaging 1.94 lock/miles per hour.

Set off, after havinng filled with water, through Tewkesbury on the Avon then through the much larger Severn lock. Followed aa centre cockpit steel cruiser "Double Joy" down to Gloucester. Saw a Cormrant and a Greater Crested Grebe on the Way down. No moorings in the dock so went through the lift bridge on to the pontoon moorings but had to wait 10 minutes as the bbridge keeper was at lunch until 11.30. We walked round the town, put our films in for processing and collected the post; then we went to thee cathedral, one of the best, and did some shopping at Sainsbury's on the way back. A very hot and sunny day.

Wednesday 28th June 1995

From Llanthony Road Bridge to Patch bridge arriving at 5:45 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 40 minutes. 11.5 miles and 0 locks, averaging 3.14 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 356 hours 57 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 584 locks, averaging 1.92 lock/miles per hour.

Before leaving Gloucester I postted off the insurance renewal for Lorna-Ann and bought 3 CDs using the token Rosemary sent me. Then Beryl and I went round the docks, visiting the antique warehouse (5 floors) and having a drink before coming back to the boat for lunch. We set off down the canal and stopped for water at Fretherne bridge, itt was a very slow tap and took us about 45 minutes. Moored on the visitor moorings just past the bridge. A very hot and sunny day, the hottest this year.

Thursday 29th June 1995

From Patch bridge to Junction with Old Line arriving at 10:30 am. The time taken was 1 hour 10 minutes. 3.5 miles and 0 locks, averaging 3 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 358 hours 7 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 584 locks, averaging 1.91 lock/miles per hour.

On the way down we saw some Great Crested Grebes. Moored and had a look round, bought some grease for tthe stern gland in the marina (3.50). Had lunch aand waited for the heat of the day to subside a little.

From Junction with Old Line to Fretherne Bridge arriving at 5:40 pm. The time taken was 1 hour 50 minutes. 6.5 miles and 0 locks, averaging 3.55 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 359 hours 57 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 584 locks, averaging 1.9 lock/miles per hour.

Moored at the visitor's mooring from where we walked to the Bell at Frampton-on-Severn for dinner (Cod and Game pie 5.90 each) then walked round the village and back along thee canal from Splatt Bridge. Another very hot and sunny day.

Friday 30th June 1995

From Fretherne Bridge to Gloucester Docks arriving at 11:25 am. The time taken was 2 hours 15 minutes. 8.75 miles and 0 locks, averaging 3.89 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 362 hours 12 minutes. total cruising time, 100 miles and 584 locks, averaging 1.89 lock/miles per hour.

Moored in the aarm opposite the Waterways Museum. "Rutilus" (latin for Roach) from the Lancaster Canal moored behind us, we have seen this northern fisheman with a loud voice several times while on the canal. Collected our prints from Jessop's and went shopping in Sainsbury's. Another vey hot and sunny day.
